Drill core scanning and geothermic measurements at Litoměřice

A cored borehole is currently being drilled on the RINGEN research center site, which will provide rock samples from depths ranging from the surface to 550m. Their analysis and geophysical measurements directly in the borehole will provide valuable information for planning underground heat storage in boreholes of various depths.

Core sample under analysis

By analyzing these samples, a 3d digital archive of the entire geological profile is created. The samples are examined for thermal conductivity, thermal diffusitivity and volumetric heat capacity. The storage of heat should be above a layer of non-conductive material. With this data we can model the complete geological profile and design the borefields for heat storage.
